abstract = "The remote sensing reflectance of water (Rrs) is a well-known
optical property used to retrieve water quality parameters and its
accurate estimation is fundamental for the application of
algorithms developed for this purpose. The Hyperspectral Imager
for the Coastal Ocean (HICO), the first spaceborne hyperspectral
sensor specifically designed for the coastal ocean and inland
waters, generates images over the 400-900 nm range, with a ground
sample distance of ~90m and a high signal-to-noise ratio. Despite
this characteristics, atmospheric correction remains an issue for
convert top-of-atmosphere radiances (Ltoa) to Rrs . In this work
we applied three different methodologies of atmospheric correction
of a HICO image from Furnas reservoir, located on Minas Gerais
state, in order to compare the results with in situ retrieved from
radiometric measurements. The methods were a) ENVI FLAASH based on
radiative transfer code (RTC) MODTRAN 4; b) Tafkaa implementation
of RTC 6S and; c) a dark object subtraction (DOS). The spectra
comparison and statistical parameters allowed a discussion in
terms of possibilities and limitations of each method. DOS
returned the best results, with a mean coefficient of
determination of 0,90 and a mean root mean square error of 0,00078
